Residents in Hawaii was jolted out of bed just after 7 a.m. The earthquake had lasted about a minute.

The quake estimated to be about 6.3 and 6.6. The magnitude was believed to be centered just off the Kona coast on the west side of the big island, and struck as heavy rain fell in parts of the state. It was followed by numerous aftershocks.

Certain places on the island had lost power completely; Or was lost for about an hour.
